Sunny Dunes Clubhouse is the LGBTQ+ recovery oasis in the desert.
That openness is intentional – and essential. For many LGBTQ+ people and their allies in recovery, finding a place that feels truly safe, affirming, and judgment-free can be the difference between isolation and connection, between relapse and healing, between surviving and thriving.
Sunny Dunes Clubhouse exists to be that place.
Why This Community Matters
The LGBTQ+ community faces unique and well-documented challenges in recovery. Discrimination, stigma, social isolation, and internalized shame often make it harder to seek help and harder still to stay connected once help is found.
At Sunny Dunes Clubhouse, we believe recovery does not happen in isolation. It happens in community.
That belief comes to life every single day in our clubhouse:
- 11 different 12-step and other recovery fellowships
- Over 90 meetings each week
- A shared space where LGBTQ+ individuals and allies show up for one another, consistently and without judgment
For some, this is their first affirming recovery space. For others, it is the one place they know they can always return to.
The Reality Behind Keeping the Doors Open
Only 70% of our operating costs are covered by 7th Tradition rent contributions from the recovery groups who meet here. We are deeply grateful for that support.
We could dip into our savings to cover the remaining 30%. But those funds are carefully reserved so that one day we can purchase our own building and secure Sunny Dunes Clubhouse’s future for years to come.
